In October 2010, IBM announced a raft of new products that will support the IBM Cloud platform. These ranged from planning and preparation to application delivery, management tools to new Cloud-based solutions. IBM made its first serious Cloud announcements in June 2009 as part of the Smart Business branding. Since then it has had two major announcements of new technologies, each one designed to address a particular implementation or task that IBM believes its customers want. October 2010’s announcements are the third major update to IBM’s Cloud strategy and product portfolio.
In this report we examine the impact these Cloud announcements will have and the potential for IBM and its community going forward into 2011.
