IBM’s Pulse 2011 conference held in Las Vegas saw the company announce its aspiration and vision towards Smarter Computing as a strategy and framework for maximizing compute investment, enabling future IT capacity and delivering new applications to support business growth and agility. IBM laid out the foundations through the use of optimised workloads within hybrid environments, the support for new delivery models like Cloud Computing and the handling of big, federated data. The Smarter Computing event at IBM’s labs in Boeblingen, Stuttgart one week later added further insight and focus to the foundations of the strategy and framework.
